Circulation
- Circulation services at the Circulation Counter provide the lending of library materials during all hours of library operation. Library attendants are available to answer questions and help patrons to locate books and other materials in the library including borrowing, returning, items renewal, book reservation, and study aids.
- Referencing is an important part of academic work. It puts the work in context, demonstrates the breadth and depth of the research, and acknowledges other people’s work. The key part of good practice in academic writing is to do reference whenever using an idea from someone else's work. The library patrons can refer to the librarian for referencing guides.
- The Library conducts orientation sessions for all new students at the beginning of semesters. This is to familiarize students with the collections, services and facilities of the Library.
- Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service is to obtain materials needed primarily for research or academic purposes which are not available in RDNC Library. (This service however is limited to the Staff and Students of RDNC.) The RDNC library has mutual understanding with sister organisation libraries in the city. In addition to this, under the Document Delivery Service (DDS) of the same scheme, copies of journal articles and or book chapters may be obtained from other libraries.

In this information age, it is essential to be information literate,
that is to know how to find the right information at the right time, how
to evaluate the information and use it effectively. These are the
skills which will enable individuals to solve problems, think critically
and make informed decisions. Such skills are not only required to help
students through their university studies but these are life-long skills
that will enable individuals to take an active part in today’s
information rich society. The Library conducts information skills
workshops to hone information seeking skills of students. This course
will incorporate:
1. How information is organized.
2. How to look for information
3. How to evaluate information
4. How to document sources (Referencing / Citation)
- Students are taught how to use library resources, access the Library Catalogue and how to search electronic databases to obtain information from online journals as well as how to search the Internet effectively. To learn to use information ethically and avoid accusations of plagiarism, students are also taught to document sources of information.
- User Education and Information Skills sessions are provided by
the library. Special workshop sessions to aid users on information
searching are organised regularly by the librarians. Post-graduates are
given information skills workshops as part of the Research Methodology
Sessions. The library staff is available to help students within the
Library at all times. Online information searching guides are available
from the library website.
- Special information needs for researcher may be discussed with the librarian through our library counselling services..
